The Good Neighbour is a creepy thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat。 I've never read anything quite like this novel, and I couldn't wait to see how it would end (and the ending was great)。 I'm definitely going to check out more of R。J。 Parker's books。。。thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for giving me the opportunity to read The Good Neighbor and helping me discover an amazing new-to-me author。 : ) The Good Neighbour is a creepy thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat。 I've never read anything quite like this novel, and I couldn't wait to see how it would end (and the ending was great)。 I'm definitely going to check out more of R。J。 Parker's books。。。thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for giving me the opportunity to read The Good Neighbor and helping me discover an amazing new-to-me author。 : ) 。。。more

This book successfully gave me the full anxiety feelings that started from the beginning。 The cat-mouse chase of mystery, fast paced, fun and creative plot。 One night Leah Talbott was driving and hit a deer, and her car stuck on a ditch。 She then looked for help in a house nearby from where she left the car。 Martin Tate opened the door for her。 He appeared as a handsome guy, charming, and constantly offered her his help dealing with her ditch car by making phone calls。 After she left and arrived This book successfully gave me the full anxiety feelings that started from the beginning。 The cat-mouse chase of mystery, fast paced, fun and creative plot。 One night Leah Talbott was driving and hit a deer, and her car stuck on a ditch。 She then looked for help in a house nearby from where she left the car。 Martin Tate opened the door for her。 He appeared as a handsome guy, charming, and constantly offered her his help dealing with her ditch car by making phone calls。 After she left and arrived at her house, she decided to stop by at Martin’s the next day, just to want to say thank you for her help。 But to her surprise, there was a woman being murdered at Martin’s house, and turned out he’s not the owner of that house!I liked the premise, endless creepy sensation, seriously I had anxiety all the time。 However, when I was looking for any logical reason on every character on why they’re making such “a not smart” decisions throughout the story, I could not find it, and that makes me a little bit disappointed。 I was hoping Leah will develop herself to be more smart, and brave, but she fall “flat”Thank you to One More Chapter, HarperCollins UK for the digital copy of this book through NetGalley。3。5 stars 。。。more

A psychological thriller that will have you questioning what you know, who you know, and what was that noise behind you? Parker used the finest details to weave this story together and when you think it’s all tied up with a bow, you’ll have to think again。 Great chiller for those dark nights that’ll keep you on your toes。

Leah is driving home late at night。 She hits a dear leaving the dear dead and her car is damaged。 Her mobile is not charged。 She spots a nearby house with a light on。 She is greeted by Martin Tate a handsome stranger。 He helps her calling the AA out。 This is the beginning of a blood filled nightmare as it becomes clear Tate is a deranged murderer。 Absolutely brilliant thriller。

This is a fast-paced thriller that takes place entirely within a 24 hour period。Leah Talbot is driving home alone on Valentines night when she hits a deer on the road and wrecks her car。 As her phone battery has died, she goes to the nearest house to ask them if she can use their phone to call for a recovery team to collect her car and her husband。 She meets Martin Tate and then the story really gets interesting。 My first book by this author, will look forward to more。 Thank you NetGalley and th This is a fast-paced thriller that takes place entirely within a 24 hour period。Leah Talbot is driving home alone on Valentines night when she hits a deer on the road and wrecks her car。 As her phone battery has died, she goes to the nearest house to ask them if she can use their phone to call for a recovery team to collect her car and her husband。 She meets Martin Tate and then the story really gets interesting。 My first book by this author, will look forward to more。 Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for a honest review。 。。。more

The narrator does a great job and didn’t ever annoy me。 That’s a definite plus in my view。 I nearly gave up on this book right near the beginning。 I hate characters who frustrate me by not going to the police。 But I am glad I persevered as the book was really enjoyable despite my constant cries of, “Just tell the bloody police, you stupid woman。” I have to admit I shouted that quite a lot。 The neighbours must think I have completely lost the plot。

This is a niche domestic suspense with a breathtaking beginning。 Martin helps Leah after her road accident, but Martin is not who he seems。 The story is a rollercoaster ride of mayhem and murder where Leah constantly puts herself in danger to follow Martin's demands。 The ethos is chilling, but the murder's killing spree is reminiscent of a horror film and defies belief。 The writing style makes good use of sensory imagery to immerse the reader into the story。 I received a copy of this book from O This is a niche domestic suspense with a breathtaking beginning。 Martin helps Leah after her road accident, but Martin is not who he seems。 The story is a rollercoaster ride of mayhem and murder where Leah constantly puts herself in danger to follow Martin's demands。 The ethos is chilling, but the murder's killing spree is reminiscent of a horror film and defies belief。 The writing style makes good use of sensory imagery to immerse the reader into the story。 I received a copy of this book from One More Chapter in return for an honest review。 。。。more

The Good Neighbour by R。J Parker is a chilling read and just reiterates my view of never knocking on someone’s door that I don’t know! This is one book that had me hooked right off the bat and had my anxiety levels at an all time high! Talk about being on the edge of my seat, I was nearly on the damn floor!。 The tension and suspense is off the charts, as R。J Parker takes you on one hell of a wild ride。 I did find though that the more I got into the story the more it became a bit far fetched, but you know what, I stopped looking at it in that way and I came to the conclusion that this isn’t always a bad thing and it just made it all the more entertaining for me。 All up The Good Neighbour is a fast paced and addictive read to get lost in for a few hours。 Well written, executed but not for the faint hearted, this is a must read for fans of the crime thriller genre。 It was a pleasure to read and review The Good Neighbour which I recommend。 Thank you to R。J Parker, One More Chapter and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Good Neighbour, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily。 。。。more

This book started so well。 The idea of the main character going to a house for help after a car accident, only to discover the following day that the man she was attracted to had murdered a woman in the house, is great。 What followed though was an increasingly far fetched and ridiculous sequence of decisions and events。 Leah has to be one of the more annoying characters in a novel。 I really didn't care what happened to her or Elliott。 Ideally, I would have given this 2。5 stars but that wasn't an This book started so well。 The idea of the main character going to a house for help after a car accident, only to discover the following day that the man she was attracted to had murdered a woman in the house, is great。 What followed though was an increasingly far fetched and ridiculous sequence of decisions and events。 Leah has to be one of the more annoying characters in a novel。 I really didn't care what happened to her or Elliott。 Ideally, I would have given this 2。5 stars but that wasn't an option so I rounded it up rather than down because it's a very quick read。 Sorry, just not for me。 。。。more

The synopsis of this book sounded soooo good! I even got my guy on board with it, but what a disappointment! The main character made unbelievably stupid choice after choice which made me actively dislike both her and her husband。 The sister backstory added little to the plot and I thought the violence was unnecessarily gratuitous。 The timeframe was unrealistic and the repetitive nature of the main character’s experiences was annoying。I originally gave this book two stars based on the fact that i The synopsis of this book sounded soooo good! This is my second book I’ve read by this author and I didn’t love this one as much as the last one。 It started off really strong, getting right into the action。 I did like the main character and really felt for her and the situation she was in。 There were quite a few twists and turns along the way, but the whole middle section was a little slow for my taste。 I also felt like the end wrapped up fairly quickly and left some things unanswered。 Overall, this one was just okay for me。 Thank you to th This is my second book I’ve read by this author and I didn’t love this one as much as the last one。 It started off really strong, getting right into the action。 I did like the main character and really felt for her and the situation she was in。 There were quite a few twists and turns along the way, but the whole middle section was a little slow for my taste。 I also felt like the end wrapped up fairly quickly and left some things unanswered。 Overall, this one was just okay for me。 Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I thought this was a superb psychological thriller, possibly one of the best books I have read this year。 The Good Neighbour by R J Parker just keeps you guessing what will happen next, the twists and turns are intriguing and keep on until the end of the story。Be careful going to a strangers door in the dark of night, they may not be who you expect。Highly recommended

Olga

After a promising and intriguing start, the story became more and more slow, repetitive and so implausible that it was almost grotesque。 None of the characters were believable。 I struggled to finish it, if I am honest。 I listened to this book on audio and the narrator was irritating, especially when doing ‘the baddy’s voice。

I think this book has some promise, but I just wasn't a huge fan as is。 The entire plot feels too drawn out and it's hard to believe why she never involves the police。 Also, the bad guy's motivations are a bit odd。 While we do get some back story on some of the characters, it's revealed in sort of random conversation and didn't make me more invested in their outcomes。 Also, the final twist just felt like too much and left the story at an odd end。 I think the concept and initial idea for the plot I think this book has some promise, but I just wasn't a huge fan as is。 The entire plot feels too drawn out and it's hard to believe why she never involves the police。 Also, the bad guy's motivations are a bit odd。 While we do get some back story on some of the characters, it's revealed in sort of random conversation and didn't make me more invested in their outcomes。 Also, the final twist just felt like too much and left the story at an odd end。 I think the concept and initial idea for the plot are good, but the execution is lacking for me。 。。。more
